SUMMARY:SFASJC 2023 photo competition
DESCRIPTION:\nThe Société française des Amis de St Jacques de Compostelle and the Centre d’Etudes Compostellanes are organizing a photo competition for paid-up members for the current year. The aim of the competition is to share and highlight the pilgrim’s experience of the pilgrimage route through the language of photography. \n\nThree themes take center stage: \n\n\nThe path and me (your perception of the path and your environment).\n\n\n\nCultural heritage (architecture\, monuments\, gastronomy\, festivals\, etc.)\n\n\n\nPilgrim’s winks (the unusual\, humor\, etc.)\n\n\nEach participant may submit a maximum of 3 photos in all categories (all photos in different categories\, or in the same category\, at the participant’s discretion). \n\nParticipation is free and without age limit. Jury members and their families are excluded. \n\nPhotographs must be sent by e-mail to the following address: sfasjc.concoursphoto@gmail.com \n\nAttachments must be in JPG format and between 800KB and 10MB in size. If photos are too large to send by e-mail\, they can be sent via WeTransfer or another sharing platform. \n\n\n\nEach photo must include: the entrant’s first and last names\, and the category for which the photo is submitted. Photos may be accompanied by a caption. \n\n\n\nEach participant names his or her photo files as follows: “T1(or T2 / or T3)_Name First name participant_Title of photo.jpg”. For example\, for a photo called “Mon chemin” submitted by Pascal Dumont in theme 1: “T1_Dumont Pascal_Mon chemin.jpg”. \n\n\n\nTo avoid any errors\, the members of the jury and the organizing committee are not authorized to name participants’ photos. \n\n\n\nAn acknowledgement of receipt will be sent to each participant by the end of the month in which it was sent at the latest. \n\n\n\nPhotos must be submitted between March 1\, 2023 and September 15\, 2023 inclusive. Entries received after this deadline will not be accepted. \n\n\n\nA special “Greeting Card” prize will be awarded to the photo selected for publication as the 2024 Greeting Card\, with the author’s name mentioned at the bottom of the image. \n\n\n\nThe jury reserves the right to award one or more additional Special Prizes. \n\n\n\nA People’s Choice Award will be presented by a vote of Internet users via the instagram account: https: //www.instagram.com/sfasjc_photo/ \n\n\n\nThe winner will be determined by the number of “likes” from Internet users\, whether or not they are SFASJC members. However\, in accordance with the competition rules\, the photos of participants who are SFASJC members will be published on Instagram. \n\n\n\nFeel free to download the complete rules HERE \n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:FB-Live conference "Walking to Jerusalem".
DESCRIPTION:Videoconference with Gildas Barbot and Ophélie Dechancé\, as part of the “Des chemins et des hommes” series\nHosted by Margaux Assier de Pompignan and Gaële de La Brosse\, journalists with the weekly Le Pèlerin \nThe subject\nThe pilgrimage to Jerusalem is the “great journey” par excellence\, since its destination is the Holy Land.\nGildas Barbot did it in 1999: he walked for 10 months\, supported by the association “Route de Jérusalem\, école de la Paix”.\nFor Ophélie Dechancé\, who made the pilgrimage in 2018\, it was both a journey of initiation and a spiritual journey.\nBoth of them will give moving testimonials and answer questions from the Internet users who are behind this project. \nThe speakers\nGildas Barbot is an academic and a father. He lives in Lyon. He was president of the association “Route to Jerusalem\, School of Peace” for ten years. In this capacity\, he has helped a number of young people prepare for their journey to Jerusalem on foot. \nOphélie Dechancé is a speech therapist in Paris. Her walk to Jerusalem was her first major pilgrimage. Since her return\, she has tried to cultivate the spirit of trust that so marked her: asking for hospitality\, hitchhiking and making room in her daily life for unexpected encounters. \nIn practice :\nViewing link (without reservation and free of charge\, accessible even to those who are not registered on Facebook) :\nhttps://www.facebook.com/LePelerin.Hebdo \nInformation : E-mail: communicationlepelerin@groupebayard.com

SUMMARY:Conference: Walking\, the shortest route to the other
DESCRIPTION:Walking\, the shortest route to the other\nAudiovisual conference (in person) by Alexandre and Sonia Poussin \nWalking is about making yourself available. It means setting out to meet someone you don’t yet know\, who will hold out a hand\, open a door\, share a part of himself with you.\nIt’s the first and foremost adventure. SUMMARY:Visit the Tour St Jacques
DESCRIPTION:Visit the Tour St Jacques\nTwo tour groups are scheduled\, the 1st at 2 pm and the 2nd at 3 pm. \nWhen you arrive at the AGM\, register by indicating your preferred time. Places are limited. \nThe cost of the visit is €12. You will be asked to pay €10 on registration. For members\, the company will cover the difference. \nFurther visits will be scheduled for spring 2023\, especially for those who are unable to visit on the day of the AGM. \nThis is an exceptional visit\, as the Tour St Jacques is currently closed to the public. \nThe Tour Saint-Jacques stands alone in the middle of the square that bears its name. Erected between 1509 and 1523\, the Tour Saint-Jacques is the only remnant of the 16th-century church of Saint-Jacques-de-la-Boucherie\, which was destroyed in 1797. \nThis sanctuary was the meeting and departure point on the via Turonensis (or Tours route) of the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. \nThe statue of Blaise Pascal\, installed at the base of the tower\, reminds us that he repeated his barometric experiments in Puy-de-Dôme here. \nA statue of Saint Jacques le Majeur crowns the north-western corner of the platform\, which has housed a small weather station since 1891. It is part of the Montsouris Observatory. \nThe carved symbols of the four evangelists (lion\, bull\, eagle and man) appear in the corners. These statues were restored in the last century\, as were the gargoyles and eighteen statues of saints decorating the tower walls. \nTo mark the 70th anniversary of the Société Française des Amis de Saint-Jacques de Compostelle\, the commemorative plaque placed at the foot of the Tour Saint-Jacques in 1965 was restored by the City of Paris.

SUMMARY:Round table - Why set out on a journey?
DESCRIPTION:As part of the “Des chemins et des hommes” 2022/2023 cycle\n\nA round-table discussion with Gilles Donada\, Marie-Édith Laval and Rémy Oudghiri\,\nmoderated by Frédéric Rochet\, Director of Forum104 \nTo the question “Why set out on a journey?”\, pilgrims give a wide variety of answers: the passage of a milestone\, the desire to take a break\, reconnecting with nature\, spiritual motivations\, and so on. \nGilles Donada (who has walked the Tours Way and the Arles Way to Compostela\, the Saint-Gilles Way\, the Way of Saint Ignatius Loyola and the Way of Saint Regis) and Marie-Edith Laval (Chemin de Compostelle\, Pilgrimage of the 88 Temples of Shikoku\, Way of Assisi\, Di qui passo Francesco\, Via francigena\, Stevenson Way) will describe the different reasons that led them to take to the road. \nAs for Rémy Oudghiri\, who explores ways of preserving one’s singularity in an increasingly uniform and technological world\, he will explain why he likes to walk aimlessly\, a practice to which he has dedicated his latest book. \nThis evening will be an opportunity for everyone to reflect on their own approach. \nThe Round Table will be followed by a book signing and a visit to the stands of the four organizing structures\naround a friendly drink. \n\nGilles Donada is a journalist in the religion department of La Croix\, where he is notably the author of “Voies de la prière”\, the podcast on the inner life. For several years\, he ran the Blog du marcheur for the weekly Le Pèlerin. \nMarie-Édith Laval is a speech therapist\, sophrologist and mindfulness meditation instructor. She also has a passion for traveling and walking. She is the author of Comme une feuille de thé à Shikoku (Le Passeur Éditeur\, 2015; Le Livre de poche\, 2016)\, in which she shares her adventure on Japan’s longest sacred path. \nRémy Oudghiri is a sociologist\, director of Sociovision and writer. He is the author of Petit éloge de la fuite hors du monde (Arléa\, 2017) and La société très secrète des marcheurs solitaires (PUF\, 2022). \nWith regard to the health situation\, the rules of social distancing and other rules in force at the time of the conference will be applied. \n\nReservations are recommended. SUMMARY:Videoconference "Overcoming hardship on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela
DESCRIPTION:As part of the “Des chemins et des hommes” cycle\, season 2022\nA videoconference with Hervé de Lantivy and Alain Soleilhac\n(hosted by Margaux Assier de Pompignan and Gaële de La Brosse\, journalists with the weekly Le Pèlerin) \nOvercoming a challenge on the roads to Santiago de Compostela\nFor many pilgrims\, the roads to Santiago de Compostela are an invitation to overcome life’s trials and tribulations. It was in this spirit that one-legged Hervé de Lantivy and visually-impaired Alain Soleilhac set off on their pilgrimage. \nLast March\, Hervé de Lantivy set off from Sainte-Anne-d’Auray (Morbihan) to walk to Santiago de Compostela. His motivation? A vow taken on the operating table\, before losing his left leg. \nAs for Alain Soleilhac\, even though his eyesight was deteriorating further\, he completed the Puy-en-Velay route and the Camino francés in tandem\, with two team-mates. \nTwo magnificent stories that these pilgrims will be happy to share with us\, along with a few photos from their journey. Then they’ll be answering live questions from Internet users. \nThe evening will also be devoted to solidarity initiatives proposed by various associations (notably the Compostelle 2000 pilgrimage for PRMs / Pilgrims with Reduced Mobility\, and the accompaniment of visually impaired people by the Société française des Amis de Saint-Jacques). \n  \nViewing link (without reservation and free of charge\, accessible even to those who are not registered on Facebook):\nhttps://www.facebook.com/LePelerin.Hebdo \nOrganized by the weekly Le Pèlerin\, Compostelle 2000\, the Société française des Amis de Saint-Jacques and Forum104 (as part of the “Des chemins et des hommes” cycle). \nFor further information\, please contact \nE-mail: communicationlepelerin@groupebayard.com \nTel.
