Credencial and Compostela
Overwhelmed by the number of credencials presented to it by pilgrims, some of which were acquired, not following a personal interview or accompanied by a booklet explaining the pilgrimage, but by mail, via the Internet or in a secular publication, the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela has been imposing new standards for all credencials since April 1, 2016.
The terms and conditions are now definitively set for foreign associations, which can issue
- or the Compostelane cathedral credencial,
- or their own credencial, modified to meet the new standards.
The credencials obtained for the ‘Compostela’ are thus accepted:
- in a Saint-Jacques brotherhood
- in a pilgrimage association in Spain
- with an approved association in other countries (modified credencial)
- in many parishes – or in monasteries – along the way
- in the dioceses.
How can I join or obtain a crédencial?
On the page Membership / credencialyou’ll find the form you need to fill in.
