Back

There was a time when the Compostela gave discounts on bus, train and air travel to Santiago. This is no longer the case. Just in case, ask.

Flying to Paris is now non-stop, taking less than 2 hours. That’s a bit too fast for those who have spent many days walking.

At just a few euros, the bus is less expensive than the train, but very demanding and exhausting, as you’ll be nailed to your seat apart from the very rare stops: 24 hours of transport for Santiago-Paris.

The train, on the other hand, will allow you to relax your legs and will be a few hours faster: 22 hours on average for Santiago-Paris with a change at Irun/Hendaye.

You can opt for a combination of bus in Spain and train from Hendaye to Paris.

If you have time, you can also return on foot. On the outward journey, you’ll be surprised to come across the rare pilgrims who return home this way.
