The octroi of Cahors

Our association, l’Octroi de Cahors, has been in existence for 20 years, housed in a small house on the Pont Louis Philippe at the entrance to the town.
It’s a 9 m2 confetti on a 1,523 km path.
In the 19th century, visitors to this place had to pay a toll, but today all walkers on their way to Compostela stop here.

In the year 2024, 9294 pilgrims crossed the threshold of our little house.
Informed, rehydrated, sometimes warmed up, often encouraged in their superb undertaking, but always magnificently welcomed, they all left with smiles on their faces, with the exception of a very few grumpy people inclined to grimace.
Through our presence and our commitment since 2004, we strive to keep alive the spirit of hospitality that characterizes the Compostela Way.
You, like us, can only measure the result of our disinterested action by the significant presence of pilgrims on the way. That’s why, with these statistics, we’d like to share our company’s success with you.

To all, Happy New Year 2025 and long live the road.
