The pilgrimage to Jerusalem is the “great journey” par excellence, since its destination is the Holy Land.
Gildas Barbot did it in 1999: he walked for 10 months, supported by the association “Route de Jérusalem, école de la Paix”.
For Ophélie Dechancé, who made the pilgrimage in 2018, it was both a journey of initiation and a spiritual journey.
Both of them will give moving testimonials and answer questions from the Internet users who are behind this project.
Gildas Barbot is an academic and a father. He lives in Lyon. He was president of the association “Route to Jerusalem, School of Peace” for ten years. In this capacity, he has helped a number of young people prepare for their journey to Jerusalem on foot.
Ophélie Dechancé is a speech therapist in Paris. Her walk to Jerusalem was her first major pilgrimage. Since her return, she has tried to cultivate the spirit of trust that so marked her: asking for hospitality, hitchhiking and making room in her daily life for unexpected encounters.
