The “journées jacquaires” organized by the Camino Frances Federation were held in Paris on March 23 and 24.

On Thursday 23/03, at 6:00 pm, a conference was held at Instituto Cervantes 7, Rue Quentin-Bauchart, presented by José Manuel Rodriguez Montanes on the theme of MESETA.

On Friday 24/03, SFASJC invited a delegation from the new CAMINO FRANCÉS Federation to a friendly lunch. We were joined by Jean-Pierre VILLON, representing Annie Cardinet of Compostelle France, who is involved with us in PROJET EUROPA COMPOSTELLA;

The guests then headed to the Instituto Cervantes headquarters for a chat. Long, direct and frank exchanges took place between the SFASJC (The debate focused on the values, objectives and defense of the Camino Francès, the reasons for founding the Camino Francès Federation and their comments on the Spanish Federation.

Patrice Bernard tenaciously insisted on the considerable importance of Europa Compostella: “No one should take responsibility for failure”, he said. Not having been mandated by the Arras group, Patrice Bernard asserted that “on a personal level, his door is always open”.

At 6.00 pm, the photo exhibition “El Camino de Santiago en la Meseta” was inaugurated by the director of the Instituto Cervantes and numerous other personalities, followed by a vin d’honneur.

At 7:00 pm, at the Instituto Cervantes 11, Av. Marceau, the 10th edition of the Aymeric Picaud prize awarded by the Camino de Santiago Journalists’ League to Mr. Jean Passini took place, preceded by an interesting speech by our former President Madame Adeline Rucquoi.

Due to the strikes, the walk in the Paris jacquaire and the visit to the Tour Saint jacques have had to be cancelled; the Spanish will return by bus, leaving Paris at 2pm.
