April 2022: A word from the Chairman
ADDRESS OF MARCH 15, 2022 TO THE TOSONI-PITTONI FAMILY
Claire, Danielle, Éliane,
Dear friends,
It is with great emotion that I address a few words to you on behalf of the French Society of Friends of Santiago de Compostela, and in a personal capacity, on this sad day when we are gathered to bid farewell to our Vice-President and friend.
ALBERT, I’m not going to talk about you in the past tense, because you’re still very much part of Société Française. In fact, you’ve always responded to all the missions entrusted to you and those you’ve taken on spontaneously.
How many times have I heard, “I’ll take care of it!”
Our Association is a shared house, of which you are both a pillar supporting the structure and one of the columns supporting each element.
I’ve always listened to your opinions, and even if they sometimes diverged, we always came to the same conclusion. Your involvement has always been multifaceted:
- Mailbox management
- Facilitating Forum 104
- Representing SFASJC in France with other associations
- Reception on rue Jean Bart and replacement of absent volunteers to ensure continuity.
- Preparing our AGMs and Board meetings
- Stewardship (orders for pins, badges, etc.)
- Lastly, since November 20, I have taken on the role of Treasurer.
You were also part of the small group that volunteered in 2016 to keep our Association in turmoil and enable it to continue on its wayThank you AlbertYour experience of the Association, of our Association, your unfailing energy, your constant willingness, your permanent availability, are essential.Thank you Albert.
I’d like to end with a quote I’m particularly fond of from Paul Valéry
Great men die twice: once as men and once as Great Men.
Thanks Albert
Patrice Jacques Marie BERNARD
